Mija Shares Extra Chill 7-Track Debut EP - ‘HOW TO MEASURE THE DISTANCE BETWEEN LOVERS’

0
0

Mija has had an incredible evolution over the years. From her eccentric fk a genre tour to her Made By Mija clothing line, the LA-based artist continues to expand her creative prowess far beyond what we’d expect. Although Mija has released numerous incredible singles and remixes throughout the years, today she’s started a new chapter in her artistic journey with the release of her long-awaited debut EP - HOW TO MEASURE THE DISTANCE BETWEEN LOVERS.

Although we’ve had a few samples of this EP via previously released singles “Bad For U” and “Notice Me”, the full seven-track project is sounding incredibly well rounded. While we’re used to Mija’s upbeat, fast-paced electronic production on tracks such as “Time Stops” and “Better”, this latest offering is characterized more of an melancholic, acoustic/electronic blend. From deep, slow rolling songs like “5AM in Paris” to powerful, emotional ballads like “Speak To Me”, Mija shares her own exceptional voice atop some beautifully intricate production.

The two previously linked up on A Tribe Called Quest's epic return album and once again show an incredible chemistry. This unreleased new track "Want U 2 Want" appears at the 1:42 mark, with the radio show also including Q-Tip and Demi Lovato covering Elton John at 1:59. Ekali is back with another fire mix! The talented producer has been on a roll with his recent original tracks with ZHU on "Blame" with Troyboi on "Truth" and with Opia on "Past Life," and now he's back with his fourth edition of the "Awakening" mix series we've been loving.

This new installment of the mix series follows in the footsteps of past editions in the way he mixes both chill and heavy sounding releases together, perfectly highlighting the two ends of the electronic music spectrum. He includes a ton of new live edits from his sets and a few unreleased tracks. See the full tracklist below and enjoy!

No matter what, Black Star will go down in history as one of the most respected hip-hop duos of all time. Yasiin Bey (fka Mos Def) and Talib Kweli are noted legendary lyricists, and when they combine their talents, very few duos can confidently stand up to them. This past weekend the two hip-hop stars played a very rare one-off show in Denver, Colorado at the Ogden Theater. Equally renowned DJ and producer Madlib had a show at another location the same night, and Yasiin Bey made a special guest appearance during his set to unveil some exciting unexpected news.

Although those who were in attendance knew they were in for a unique performance, none of them expected to be the first to hear of a special announcement made by Yasiin and Madlib. According to accounts from fans on Reddit who were in attendance, both Yasiin and Madlib have confirmed that there will be a brand new Black Star album coming 2018, with none other than the legenary Madlib on production duties.

As if our minds weren’t blown already with the announcement of a new Black Star album, the fact that Madlib will be on the same project is stunning. If you’re not familiar with Madlib, his discography and production credits are something to admire. Excluding his work with the two Black Star rappers, he’s made beats for Kanye West, Anderson .Paak, Freddie Gibbs, J Dilla, De La Soul and worked on Madvillainy with MF DOOM, arguably one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time.

The excitement from this announcement can be heard by hip-hop heads all around the world. 2018 marks the 20th anniversary of their one and only studio album Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star. Seems like a perfect time for a comeback.

PREMIERE : BadKlaat Delivers Insane Dubstep Remix Of Riot Ten's "Pit Boss" Via Dim Mak

The next wave of dubstep is rapidly gathering steam with constant sound design innovations from up & coming producers like BadKlaat. This U.K. based producer is hot off of two banging original releases on SKisM’s powerhouse dubstep label Never Say Die and has been busy cranking out remixes for star-studded remix albums like Excision’s The Virus and Datsik’s Monster. Now they've unleashed some heat taking on Riot Ten for a fresh new remix via Dim Mak.

BadKlaat has now made it onto TSIS for his remix of Riot Ten & Sullivan King’s track “Pit Boss” ft. DJ Paul. If you’re someone who’s looking to ride the rail at your local dubstep event then this remix will hit the spot. BadKlaat blends the originals’ aggressive vocals into a chaotic buildup before collapsing the track into a deceptively simple drop that relentlessly hits the listener with percussive force. A bit later BadKlaat takes us under the hood of his sound by drawing out each hit with devastating effect. This release is coming early off Riot Ten's forthcoming EP "The Dead" which drops on Friday, Feb. 16. Riot Ten is also appearing on Datsik's Ninja Nation tour, see dates below. Enjoy!

Pat Corcoran and Tim Smith have made quite the name for themselves as artist managers over the years due to their success in building the careers of Chance The Rapper and Skrillex. Now the two powerhouse managers have teamed up for something we didn't see coming, a new wine company

Called No Fine Print, the new company from Corcoran and Smith has brought Ryan Arnold on board, who has seen great success as the wine director for the widely popular restaurant enterprise. The respected Sommelier's knowledge of wine paired with Smith and Corcoran's ability to build brands and connect with consumers is like a dream team for a wine venture, and we're excited to see how it plays out.

"GOOD PEOPLE GOOD TIMES" IS WHAT WE'RE ALL ABOUT. THIS WINE IS AN EXPRESSION OF THAT. IT'S AN EXTENSION OF OUR LOVE OF MUSIC AND ART, OF THE CREATIVITY AND JOYS OF HUMANITY. ENJOY THIS BOTTLE WITH PEOPLE YOU ENJOY! - PAT CORCORAN + TIM SMITH + RYAN ARNOLD

No Fine Print seems to be the perfect point for an average wine consumer looking to explore a bit deeper as they aim to create wine that appeals to newcomers and win connoisseurs alike. They have a $19.99 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon from California as well as a much more limited sub-brand called "Fine Print" that's launching with a $34.99 bottle of 2014 Syrah-Pinot Noir blend. Check out their website here... maybe Chance and Skrillex will collaborate on some wine? Enjoy!

Kendrick Lamar Appears On Two New Tracks With Featured Verses

There’s no stopping Kendrick Lamar… we were just blessed with his incredible curated album for Marvel’s Black Panther movie and it’s incredible. Just a couple days ago, Q-Tip teased a collaboration alongside Kendrick and now he’s hopped on not one, but two guest features released today. It’s a blessing whenever we get a new Kendrick feature and hearing him on Cozz’s “Hustla’s Story” and Nipsey Hussle’s “Dedication” in the same day is even better.

“Dedication” hears Kendrick go over what sounds like it could be a classic west coast G-funk beat, and absolutely killed it. On “Hustla’s Story” he switches things up going back and forth between laid-back singing and rapid-fire verses with a flow we haven’t heard from Kdot previously. Stream both below and enjoy!

Zeds Dead Enlist Ganja White Night For Explosive Hourlong Deadbeats Radio Guest Mix

0
0

Zeds Dead have been pushing out Deadbeats Radio mixes at a rapid-fire speed since the show’s debut back in June 2017. The weekly mixes have become a must-hear, as they celebrate music both old and new with unreleased heaters, nostalgic gems and occasional themes such as the “Dubstep Throwback” and “Drum ‘n Bass Special.”

The duo occasionally brings guest performers into the mix, and the most recent edition of Deadbeats Radio enlisted none other than Ganja White Night. This Belgian duo is fresh off the release of their low-end bass album The Origins, and that momentum shows with their half of this mix.

Zeds Dead kick things off for the first 30 minutes. The two keep things fresh with both feather light and heavy, in-your-face tracks juxtaposed in a constant rise and fall of energy, including their recent collaboration with Ganja White Night “Samurai.” Ganja White Night jumps in around the halfway mark for a menacing 30 minutes of exclusively their own music, packing a punch with plenty of wobbles, filthy drops and VIPs. Check out the mix below and enjoy!

EDC is bringing 8 themed stages with over 200 artists, thousands of costumed performers and many art installations. The festival brings in over 100,000 people daily to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway year after year and this time they’re revamping some of the INSANE stages to be even bigger and better. Frank Ocean Surprises With Beautiful Chill New Song "Moon River"

Frank Ocean has returned. He previously said "if you liked 2017, you'll love 2018" and it seems as though he's already lived up to this statement as he's just dropped another beautiful and relaxing new song "Moon River." Frank delivered some unreal loose singles last year including "Chanel", "Biking", "Lens" and "Provider" mostly via his Blonded radio show.  This new song has minimal instrumental while his voice takes front stage with its multiple layers showing off his non-traditional songwriting approach, and it's sounding amazing. Enjoy!

No one does music videos like TDE... Every Kendrick Lamar video is special and now the prestigious label has shared the music videos for one of the best songs we've heard in a long time, "King's Dead" by Jay Rock featuring Kendrick Lamar, Future and James Blake

As we can expect from all videos TDE and Kendrick Lamar are involved with, the cinematography is insane. From shots of what looks like Kendrick eating a corn dog in a palm tree.... to the three rappers channeling their inner Wolf Of Wall Street everything about the video is amazing. The way they switch camera shots is always intriguing as we see the rappers on top of buildings and Kendrick even gets in a deal gone wrong before going wild directing traffic. The video was directed by TDE President Dave Free of the little homies & Jack Begert. Enjoy!

Zeds Dead's label Deadbeats has been responsible for some incredible releases since their launch and have no plans of stopping anytime soon. For today's release they've shared 16-year-old artist DNMO's new song "Do It Better" featuring vocals from both Ayelle and Sub Urban, which we're excited to be premiering today.

"Made this track with my two good friends and incredible vocalists Sub Urban and Ayelle! This one has been a long time coming. I started it last summer and it shaped up into something really special. This single is just ataste of what’s to come with my sound, and I'm so excited to continue this vision!!" - DNMO

We previously had the pleasure of premiering DNMO's "Broken" via Deadbeats last spring which also included vocals from Sub Urban as they once again show off their chemistry on this new one. DNMO's sound design has a way of of capturing an eerie, yet uplifting vibe at the same time. He combines a gritty, bass drenched synth placed alongside a powerful, uplifting lead melody that compliment each other in the best way. Ayelle's alluring vocals pair with previous collaborator Sub Urban to bring everything together. Stay tuned for more from this young rising talent who will be debuting his live shows this year. PREMIERE | Sweater Beats Shares Cinematic New Remix Of MAX's "Meteor"

Sweater Beats has done it again. It’s always a pleasure to premiere his music and this time around he’s really impressed us with his cinematic remix of vocalist MAX’s original track “Meteor.”

Last fall we were glad to bring the premiere of Sweater Beats’ take on Clean Bandit’s “Symphony” and he’s once again shown his ability to take an original song and give it a facelift to make it his entirely his own. Sweater Beats reimagines the song from its core, building new production around the original’s dreamy vocals. He puts an effect on MAX’s voice giving it an eerie quality while adding driving percussion, a wonky stuttering drop with horns and cinematic sound design as the perfect compliment for MAX’s vocals. Enjoy!

Tycho Releases Chill New Sunrise Remix Of Portugal. The Man’s “Live For The Moment”

Only Tycho could take such a gem like Portual. The Man’s “Live In The Moment” and make it even better. The TSIS favorite always crafts some of the most relaxing tracks and this one is no different.

Today, Tycho has released his official “sunrise” remix for Portual. The Man, and it’s stunning. The original version of “Live For The Moment” is very lively and upbeat, and seeing Tycho do a remix of it is just what we wanted for a great track to chill out to this weekend. While keeping all the elements that make the original so great, Tycho creates a much more chill and ambient setting for the track, making it perfect for those early hours watching the sun creep up on the horizon. They’ve also flipped the beat into a four-on-the-floor pattern, making it just a little more fun to dance to.

We enjoy nearly everything that Tycho lay their hands on, and this one is no different. Enjoy!
